Tariq graduated as a vet in 2014 from the University of Bristol and following a year in practice, embarked on a combined internship/residency programme in avian/exotic medicine and surgery at Great Western Exotics in Swindon. He obtained his RCVS certificate in zoological medicine in 2018 and his ECZM diploma in zoological medicine (Avian) in 2021. He leads the exotics service at Valley Exotics, part of Valley Veterinary Hospital in Cardiff. A keen aviculturist and herpetoculturist, Tariq sees value in preserving populations of species which have become established in captivity and has an interest in developing husbandry and welfare practices.
