Richard graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2003. While working in general practice he developed a strong interest in ophthalmology and undertook an internship in ophthalmology at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket in 2013-14. Following this he undertook a three- year specialist training programme in comparative ophthalmology at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Royal Veterinary College, studying towards the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology diploma. Following the successful completion of his training, Richard remained at the RVC as a clinician for a further year. In July 2018, Richard joined North Downs Specialist Referrals, a large multidisciplinary referral hospital in Surrey.
