Karla obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Cambridge and completed a small animal internship at the University of Pennsylvania. Drawn back to the UK, Karla completed a PhD and surgical residency at Royal Veterinary College, becoming a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2006. Karla has spent the majority of her career at the Royal Veterinary College, where she combined her clinical practice in small animal soft tissue surgery, with significant contributions to clinical research and veterinary education. Karla's special clinical interests are emergency surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy.
