David qualified from the Royal Veterinary College having intercalated at King College London. Following a short time in charity small animal practice he completed a Wellcome sponsored PhD at the Medical Research Council's (MRC) Clinical Research Centre in transplantation biology. David was then appointed a Research Fellow in developmental biology at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research. He then returned to the RVC as a Resident becoming an ECVIM diplomate in Cardiology. He has remained at the RVC since and is now Professor in Veterinary Cardiology. David maintains a 50% clinic commitment in addition to a large research programme and administration/teaching duties. He has a particular interest in feline myocardial disease and has presented and published extensively on the subject.
