Andy obtained his veterinary degree from Bristol in 1993. After a few years in mixed practice he undertook a pathology residency at the Animal Health Trust, then a PhD in pathology and microbiology at Bristol. For the last 20 years he has divided his professional time, researching and writing on veterinary microbiology with a focus on foodborne zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance, whilst also enjoying general practice. His research has been undertaken in association with APHA and (latterly) the University of Surrey, where Andy is a research fellow.
