Ruth Mackay
I qualified as a vet in 1991 and started my career in mixed practice in the North of Scotland. In 1994 I ventured across the border to Lancashire and started work in my current practice. Over the last 30 years of owning the practice I have employed many new graduates, many of whom still work with us. My fellow director, Drew came straight from vet school and has never left!
I am passionate about veterinary practice management and although I now have a full-time practice manager, I still am very actively involved in growing and evolving our practice and our team. I am also passionate about mental wellbeing within our practice and myself and my co-director have introduced many measures to constantly improve our team’s happiness although we do recognise that in such a fast-changing veterinary profession there is always a lot more that could be done. I have just recently finished my stint as Chair of the Veterinary Management Group and am now part way through a PG Cert in Veterinary Dentistry which is challenging and exciting at the same time.
In my spare time I love walking my dog, Rubix and travelling with my wife, Lotti.
