The Problem
Animal Spay and Neuter International have a special emphasis on Romania at this time due to the overwhelming need there. Over one dogs lifetime potentially one female can give birth to 67,000 offspring without surgical intervention. The female has puppies, their offspring has puppies and so on. We aim to cut this cycle of suffering on the streets of Romania at its source by spaying and neutering as many animals as possible. The situation with cats is even worse culminating in the potential birth of over 2 million in a cat’s lifetime.
The Solution
ASNI holds spay campaigns throughout the year in Romania at our hospital The Centre of Hope Animal Hospital where we have our base just outside Bucharest in Piteasca, Ilfov County. Our vets are highly skilled and trained in keyhole surgery and can sterilize 50+ dogs and cats in one day. As well as at the Centre, we carry out outreach work in surrounding villages spaying and neutering people’s pets and stray animals.
Spay Academy
Also based at the hospital is the Veterinary Training Camp (Spay Academy) which provides veterinary training to veterinarians in keyhole surgical procedures. Fully equipped with the latest technological advances including a CT scanner, Ultrasound, Digital Imaging and Microscopic Laboratory.
